Smack Talk Character Roster

This roster is the 27-fighter 1.0 list. Names come from Steam achievements, Early Access patch notes, and official Monchii videos. If a move is listed, it appeared in those sources. If a move is missing, open Shift in-game — the overlay is canonical. Pair this index with the players hub, the character tier list, and the voice phrase sheet.

Launch-era faces (the ones in the first trailers and the first achievement block):

• Fighter — Karate all-rounder. Meteor Palm, Dragon Fists, stunning palm speed buffs, Wax on Wax off emote. Fine first pick if you like short lines.
• Samurai — Slashes, Water Wheel, Flowing Koi projectile. Koi lifetime and speed were patched several times; treat it as a spacing tool, not a homing missile.
• Wolf — Blood Pursuit dash, Rip and Tear, Wolf Claw, Easy Prey. High commitment, high kill power, smaller rooms.
• Magical Girl — Starlight Blast, Glitter Wand Smash, Lunar Ascension, Charm Lash, Magical at your service. Ult interrupt protection came and went; still a beginner-friendly blast kit.
• Gorilla — Spirit of Gorilla, Ground Pound (hitbox shrunk). Big body, party mascot, weaker in wide projectile wars.
• Frog Wizard — Levitation Flotation, Fireball. The classic shout-caster. Fireball speed was buffed; recovery end-lag was cut.
• Bug — Pogo Bounce with movement on windup. Vertical menace if you can stay disciplined with the up-attack cap.
• Chef — Full page: Chef. Chop Chop, You’re Cooked, Mom’s Spaghetti, Eat Up, Sushi Train, lid tech.
• Cop — Get Down, Stop Resisting, Suspect Fleeing. Stun and knockback buffs made the kit less of a meme.
• Doctor — Reflex Check, needle nerfs in the Linux patch era. Movement on windup. Weird but real beginner secondary.

Mid-EA additions that defined the tone

• Pigeon — Bird Game 3 collab. Gobble Gobble, Coo Coo, Peck Peck, Flap Flap (renamed from Caw Caw). Movement on gobble was a known power spike.
• Cowboy — Full page: Cowboy. Lobby browser roommate. Quick Draw, Buck Shot, yeehaw recovery, ledge guns.
• Santa — Happy Christmas, Rudolph recovery, Surprise Gift, Cookies and Milk, You’ve Been Naughty, holiday ultimate. Seasonal kit that never left.
• Duck — Repeated-phrase three-piece, Quack, Duck Duck Goose. Cadence character. Teach yourself combos here.
• Business Man — Stocks Up, Market Crash, Pleasure Doing Business, tax-evasion jokes, Get a Job. Faster overall after the April balance sweep.
• Alien — Wormhole, I Come in Peace, photo gags, Probing Subject, Emergency Landing, Bogos Binted emote. Mid-match spectate shipped in the same week.
• Diver — Full page: Diver. Manta platforms, anchors, Get Over Here, torpedo volley.
• Pirate — Arr Me Matey, Hand Over Your Booty, That Be the Kraken, Prepare Yourself Scally Wag. High Seas pair with Fish.
• Fish / Fishman — Check Out My Muscles, Snap Out of It, bubble movement. High Seas partner, not a palette swap of Pirate.
• Fast Food Worker — Supersize It (heavy damage cut), No Free Refills. Random character/stage shipped in the same update.
• Macho Man — Wrestling arena roommate. Take a Seat, Get Out of Here, You Can’t See Me emote. Team mode landed here.
• Barn — Animal-sound kit, Baa Haha emote, eight-player and character-select revamp roommate. High chaos, low first-night recommendation.
• Teacher — Detention-zone ultimate, chalkboard stage. Wide-stage controller.
• Cat and Rat — Community-voted Tom-and-Jerry pair from TikTok and Discord. Kit details are overlay-first; they shipped as a duo update.

• Power Ranger — Full-release themed fighter with joke references called out in the launch news post.
• Kaiju — The other 1.0 arrival, city stage roommate. Treat both as overlay-first until more frame notes exist.

How to use this list in a lobby

Lock two names. One projectile, one backup. Confirm recoveries on Shift. If a friend is new, steer them to beginner picks instead of Barn. If the room is eight players, prefer guns and dishes over dash grabs. If the stage is jail, compact kits like Cop and Gorilla feel better than long-range koi.

Do not learn seventeen ultimates. Learn two recoveries, two basics, and one edge-guard. The getting started hour still applies when the roster looks like a cartoon pile. The microphone does not care how many achievements you unlocked.
