Smack Talk’s community is small and loud, which matches the game. The useful rooms are Steam discussions and the official Discord. TikTok comments have literally spawned fighters. If you want a change, you post there, not in a wiki issue tracker.

Steam

The Steam store page is the source of truth for price, platforms, and the language list. The news tab is the source of truth for patches — this wiki’s patch history is a reading guide. Discussions already contain the mic thread the studio replied to (Windows, Mac permissions, Linux Snap). Search before you duplicate it.

Steam achievements are mostly hidden fighter names. That is a fun scavenger hunt, not a guide requirement. Play the roster instead of spoiling yourself if you care.

Discord

Trailers and the store page link a Discord. The support field on the API listing has also shown an invite. Discords rotate; if one 404s, use the store page button. That server is where balance suggestions (the April sweep credited Jam and Chop Chop) and character votes (Rat) happened. Behave like you want another fighter, not a ban.

In-game voice is not a community platform. It is off by default. Use Discord for talking about the match, the game for talking at the match. Mic setup explains why those should not share exclusive hardware.

YouTube, TikTok, Instagram

Monchii’s YouTube is the trailer and the character diaries embedded around this wiki (Chef lid tech, Diver contest, Duck cadence, Santa, Business Man). TikTok and Instagram are the comment funnels that added jail props, Cowboy pressure, and the Cat vote. Watch them as design diaries. Do not treat a 20-second joke clip as a frame bible.

How this wiki fits

We index guides, players, tier lists, updates, and tools. We are not a Discord replacement. When 1.0 adds another fighter, wait for the Steam post, then we write. Until then, hold Shift.

If you are here to decide a purchase, skip the socials and read the review. If you already own it, pick a four-player island lobby and shout something short.

Etiquette that keeps the studio answering

Post clips with the fighter name and the phrase you thought you said. “Mic broken” without a platform is noise. “Mic broken on Snap Steam” is a patch. The Linux warning exists because someone was specific.

Do not demand a silent mode as a personality test. The game is the shout. Accessibility requests are different — if you need remaps, say remaps. If you want Smash with a mute toggle, you want a different title.

Vote contests work when the room already plays. Cat and Rat shipped because votes came with people who would actually download them. Suggesting a 40-move lore character in a dead channel does nothing. Suggesting a one-line joke with a clear recovery has a track record.

Share wiki links instead of pasting overlays into chat. Voice commands and mic setup exist so the Discord is not a FAQ graveyard. When you do paste, paste Shift, not a memory. Memory is how phantom moves get into arguments on the character tier list.

If you clip a bug, include whether anyone left the lobby in the last minute. That one detail is the difference between “random mute” and the known swap-device bug. The studio has been unusually willing to answer. Reward that with complete reports. Mention Windows versus Mac versus native Linux, because the Snap warning only helps if you say you are on Snap. A twenty-second clip of Shift plus the failed line is worth more than a paragraph of anger, and it keeps how to play threads from turning into support.
