Smack Talk Fighters
Twenty-seven kits, one microphone — find a main that you can actually say.
The players hub is the roster, not a social directory. Smack Talk 1.0 ships 27 distinct fighters, each with a spoken kit, a recovery you must be willing to yell, and at least one joke that will get someone killed in a party lobby. If you came here from Smash, think of these as assist-trophy personalities with full movesets. If you came here from a shout-caster, think of them as different vocabularies.
Start with the full roster. That page is the index: Fighter, Samurai, Wolf, Magical Girl, Gorilla, Frog Wizard, Bug, Chef, Cop, Doctor, Cowboy, Santa, Duck, Pigeon, Business Man, Diver, Alien, Pirate, Fish, Fast Food Worker, Macho Man, Barn, Teacher, Cat, Rat, Power Ranger, and Kaiju. Names match Steam achievements, patch notes, and official videos. Random select exists on top of that list; it is a mode, not a twenty-eighth designed kit.
How we split the write-ups
Three fighters get dedicated pages because they teach the whole game:
- Cowboy — guns, edge-guards, a recovery people actually shout. The lobby-browser patch mascot.
- Chef — close chops, spaghetti, sushi train, and the lid tech that broke an ultimate.
- Diver — community-designed kit with manta platforms and anchors. Stage control as a character.
Everyone else is covered on the roster page with the phrases that appeared in public patch notes. When a fighter needs a full article later, it will land under this hub and link back. We are not inventing kits that never appeared in Steam news or videos.
Archetypes, not copy-paste Smash clones
You will feel Smash DNA: percents, blast zones, recoveries. The spoken layer rearranges who is “easy.” A simple sword character is hard if the line is a tongue twister. A joke duck is broken if one sentence does three hits. Rank difficulty by how comfortable you are saying the recovery, then by range. The beginner picks apply that filter. The character tier list applies it to win rate in FFA versus smaller rooms.
Community voting created more of this roster than a typical indie fighter. Diver came from comment contests. Cat and Rat came from TikTok and Discord votes. Prison props came from comments. That is why the tone is unhinged and why balance notes read like a group chat. Expect new names after 1.0 — Monchii said more updates are planned.
How to pick a main in one night
- Can you say the recovery while jumping? If no, skip.
- Do you have a projectile or a fast jab? You want one of those in how to play.
- Does the kit still function if two people talk over you? Projectile users survive FFA. Grab-heavy users want four-player rooms.
- Lock two fighters, not the whole roster.
Then lab a confirm from combos and put the lines on the voice phrase sheet. If the mic hates a vowel, it is a controls problem — mic setup — not a reason to main someone you cannot pronounce.
Spotlight pages below go deep on Cowboy, Chef, and Diver because they show gun, dish, and platform design. Use them as templates when you lab Magical Girl or Kaiju on your own. The trailer energy is real; the homework is still Shift, jump, phrase.

27 distinct fighters, plus random select. Power Ranger and Kaiju joined at full release. See the roster.
Which fighter should I main first?
Chef or Cowboy if you want range and readable lines. The reasoning is on beginner picks.
